To realize you are a new creature requires a renewed mind, like a cat chasing its own tail. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away behold, all things are become new. Thou wilt keep in perfect peace, mind stayed : because he trusteth in thee. It is the same word translated as transfiguration, such as when Jesus’ clothes and face emanated bright light upon the Mount of Transfiguration. The word conform is schematizo, to form or fashion.įinally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things honest, whatsoever things just, whatsoever things pure, whatsoever things lovely, whatsoever things of good report if any virtue, and if any praise, think on these things. This is the process of the caterpillar morphing into a butterfly a tadpole changing into a frog and an egg and sperm changing into a human being. The word transform is metamorpheo we get our word metamorphosis from it.
The primary responsibility of focusing our minds on the things of God and our spiritual blessings, is on us. Don’t misunderstand me, God is in action from within and without to encourage and help us renew our minds and He can also can give us a swift kick. It is something we control and act upon, then God in Christ in us acts within. The transformation is not something that God takes control and causes the transformation to occur. We are told to transform (transfigure) ourselves. The renewed mind has been called the key to power, the power to m You control the nozzle on the hose that holds an abundance of living waters from which all blessing flow.
You will see more of what God promises flood (or trickle) into our lives. We “put on” the new man and the truths and promises of The Word as we “put off” the old man which wallows in sin and the garbage the world system tries to force-feed.Īlso, the continuing action of renewing the mind results in proving to ourselves the perfect word and will of God. Then we can continue to transform to be more of the masterpiece He has made us to be (something new). By not conforming to the world’ standards and devices (the Adversary delivers this to us through the world system every day). We must understand what we are conforming from what we are transforming to. To understand the phrase “ renewing of your mind” we must see that it is associated in the verse with transformed as opposed to conformed.
